Overview
Mississauga is often overlooked by Toronto-centric buyers, but it’s a full-service city with over 700,000 residents, a growing downtown core (Celebration Square / Square One area), and direct access to Lake Ontario’s waterfront. For professionals working near the airport or along the 400-series highway corridor, it’s an excellent base.
Real Estate
Mississauga offers some of the best value in the GTA for the size and quality of home you get. Detached homes range from $900K–$1.5M+. Port Credit and Lakeview waterfront properties command significant premiums. Condos around Square One and Hurontario are active at $550K–$850K.
Schools
Mississauga is served by the Peel District School Board and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic DSB. Top schools include Glendale Senior PS, Port Credit Secondary School, and several French immersion options. The University of Toronto Mississauga campus is also here.
Commute & Transit
The Hurontario LRT (opening 2024/2025) will dramatically improve north-south transit. GO Transit (Lakeshore West) connects Port Credit, Clarkson, and Cooksville directly to Union Station in 25–40 minutes. The 401, 403, 407, and QEW all intersect here.
Lifestyle
The Port Credit waterfront is one of the GTA’s most charming lakefront destinations. Mississauga’s Arts Centre, Celebration Square (outdoor concerts, skating), and Kariya Peace Garden are highlights. The restaurant scene along Lakeshore and in Streetsville is fantastic.
