Overview

North York is one of Toronto’s most diverse and liveable districts, stretching from the Sheppard corridor in the south to Steeles Avenue in the north. The area offers a compelling mix of urban amenities — particularly around Yonge/Sheppard and Yonge/Eglinton — and quieter, tree-lined residential streets further north.

Real Estate

North York offers excellent value compared to downtown Toronto. Detached homes on the Yonge corridor average $1.1M–$1.6M. Semi-detached and townhouse options exist in the $800K–$1.1M range. The condo market around Yonge/Sheppard (North York Centre) is active and growing, with prices $650K–$950K.

Schools

North York is home to some of Toronto’s most sought-after public schools, including Earl Haig Secondary School (arts program), McKee Public School, and Cummer Valley Middle School. Several respected private schools operate in the area too.

Commute & Transit

Excellent. The Yonge-University subway runs the full length of North York, with Sheppard Avenue having its own subway line. Finch and Sheppard LRT expansions are underway. Bus access is extensive throughout the district.

Lifestyle

North York’s dining scene — particularly along Yonge Street and in Willowdale — rivals downtown for variety. The North York Civic Centre, Mel Lastman Square, and Centerpoint Mall are central hubs. Serene parks like Willowdale Park and Earl Bales are great for families.
